Frequently Asked Questions

How much does electrical work cost for a home remodel in Los Angeles?

Electrical costs vary widely by scope. A panel upgrade (100A to 200A service) runs $2,500 to $5,000. Adding circuits for a kitchen remodel runs $1,500 to $4,000. Full rewiring of a 1,500 sq ft home runs $8,000 to $18,000. ADU electrical packages (including subpanel, circuits throughout, and EV-ready outlet) run $8,000 to $14,000. All pricing includes LADBS permit costs.

Do I need an electrical permit for a remodel in Los Angeles?

Yes. Any electrical work beyond like-for-like device replacement requires a permit from LADBS in Los Angeles. This includes adding circuits, moving outlets, upgrading panels, installing new lighting, or running new wiring. Unpermitted electrical work creates insurance liability and must be disclosed at sale. APLA pulls all required electrical permits and schedules inspections.

What electrical work is required for a new ADU in Los Angeles?

A new ADU in Los Angeles requires a dedicated subpanel (typically 60A to 100A), circuits for kitchen appliances, bathroom, bedroom lighting, HVAC, and a 240V Level 2 EV-ready outlet if the ADU has parking. APLA designs the complete ADU electrical package and coordinates all LADBS rough and final electrical inspections.

Is APLA a licensed electrical contractor in California?

APLA Construction Group Inc. holds California General Contractor License 1136359, which covers all trades including electrical work for construction projects. We work with licensed electrical subcontractors on larger electrical packages and self-perform smaller electrical scopes under the GC license. All electrical work is permitted and inspected through LADBS.
